Shirley was born on May 16, 1933 in Braceville IL. She was the daughter of William (Pinky) and Violet Cherrie. Shirley graduated from Gardner South Wilmington High School and went on to marry the late William J. Gray (Bill) on Aug. 23, 1952.
Shirley was an accomplished and ambitious woman with many interests and passions. She was President of Central Assembly Co., in Addison IL for 40 years, Shirley was a successful entrepreneur and businesswoman. Her passions and interests included golfing and she was an active board member in golf leagues both in Florida and Illinois. She was also a member of The Red Hat Society, traveling and enjoying life to the very fullest until the time of her passing. Shirley was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church and was an active in their choir. All she touched in her life regarded Shirley as a savvy, intelligent and fun loving woman. She had a million dollar smile, and an incredible drive to live life to its fullest. She lived that life exhibiting strength, grace, and poise.
She is survived by her son, William J. Gray Jr. and daughter Charlene (the late Harry) Harvey; grandchildren: Arthur Sears, William Gray III, Amy Sears, Marina Bakopoulos (John), Veronica Rabinowitz (Daniel) and Thomas Puntillo; great grandchildren, Manny Sears, Christopher Krueger, Matilda Sears, Nolan Gray, and Anthony and Sophia Bakopoulos.
She was preceded in death by her husband William (Bill) Gray, daughter Susan Puntillo and her parents William and Violet Cherrie.
Funeral service were held at Humes Funeral Home, 320 W. Lake St. Addison to Holy Ghost Church for Mass. Interment was at Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
