Abraham L. Dowden was born November 26, 1926 in Indiana and passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016. He resided in Melbourne, Arkansas.

He was an animal rescuer.He cared for those with four legs at his home for many years. Any stray or abandoned animal was welcome on his property, where they were cared for with love and compassion.

He is survived by a sister Evelyn Louise (Dowden) Holland of Salem, Oregon. He was especially close to his niece Betty J. (Stephen) Bricker of Valrico, Fl and nephews Bruce (Joyce) Runyan of Piedmont, Oklahoma and Daniel (Dee) Runyan of Edmond, Oklahoma and great niece Linda Ackerman of Stayton, Oregon.

He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly June Dowden; his parents Thomas & Freda Irene Cottrell Dowden,2 sisters: Sarah Dowden, and Betty J (Dowden) Mattox and brothers Thomas Marion Dowden and William "Pete" Dowden.

A Memorial Service was held on April 9 with niece, Rev. Betty J. Bricker officiating. Cremation took place at Roller Funeral Home.
