CREW, Charles William III "Butch," 53, of Mechanicsville, went to be with his Heavenly Father December 10, 2015. Following a courageous eight-year battle with cancer and surrounded by close family, he passed away in the comfort of his home, which he loved so much. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Betsy Crew Davis; his father, Charles William "Bubba" Crew Jr.; and his sister, Carol Ann Jones. He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and devoted wife of 31 years, Jennifer; their faithful daughter, Savannah June, who made him so proud; his sister, Terry Crew Cooper and her husband, Steve, who was like a brother to him; his mother-in-law, Dot Whitlock; father-in-law, Russell Whitlock Jr. (Judy); and sister-in-law, Robin Whitlock Tate. He dearly loved his nieces, nephews and great-nephews, Jayson Collier (Sarah), Courtney Strickland (Josh), Dylan Jones, Natalie O'Bier (who was like a second daughter), Brayden Strickland and Jackson Collier; his close cousins Gary Shortt (Debbie), Brandi Baker, who was like a sister to him; and Steve's generous father, Bill Cooper. The family would like to offer our love and gratitude to the devout support he received from the staff and members of the New Life Outreach International Church. Butch dedicated his life to his family, friends and to his customers of Crew Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc., a business he and Jennifer developed and operated for 23 years. "No customer of his would have to worry about being cold or hot- he could not rest until they were comfortable!" He cherished his time hunting and fishing- it was the ultimate relaxation for him to enjoy nature. We find comfort in knowing that Butch found spiritual peace within throughout his battle with cancer; because of this, we know he is in good hands now. The family welcomes visitors at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville, Va. 23111 on Sunday, December 13, 2015, from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 14, 2015, at 2 p.m., at Monaghan Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Hanover Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to New Life For Youth, P.O. Box 13526, Richmond, Va. 23225.
