Sweetwater - Funeral for J. W. Burkett, 77, were to be held here at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lamar Street Church of Christ with Dwaine Evans of Lubbock and Stanley Shipp, minister of 4th & Elm Church of Christ, officiating.
Mr. Burkett died Monday at Simmons Memorial Hospital. He had been a resident of Sweetwater since 1916.
Burial will be at Sweetwater Cemetery under direction of Cate-Spencer Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, the former Ida Lee Webb of Eastland; one daughter, Mrs. J. W. Herron of Sweetwater; one son, E. W. of Childress; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Fox of Sweetwater, Mrs. Alma Thompson of Hobbs, N.M., and Mrs. Dessie Gold of Odessa; two brothers, Lee of Hobbs, N. M., and Charlie of Eastland; two stepsons, Bill Hout of Fort Worth and Tom Turner of Sacramento, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A son, Earl, died in 1939, and a daughter, Billie, died in 1926.
