Charles Alvin Lake, formerly of Lady Lake, Florida, went home to be with his Lord, Friday, December 5, 2014, at the Winchester Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center.

He was born in 1923, son of the late Harry A. and Pearl Moulden Lake, in Winchester, Virginia. He was educated in the Winchester School System. Charles married Lucille Perry Lake in 1942, in Winchester, VA. This year they celebrated 72 years of marriage.

As a young man he worked in a local apple orchard and packing warehouse and The Clearbrook Woolen Mill. He traveled to Baltimore for work during the war, drove a fuel truck for Southern States and worked for Rich Foods and Schenck Foods. Charles and Lucille retired to Florida in 1990 where they lived for 24 years. They met many friends and enjoyed their church life there.

Charles is survived by his wife, Lucille; sister, Pearl Alene Lake Ebert; children Carol Lake Vaden and husband Don, Linda Lake Hart and husband Bob and Michael Alvin Lake and wife Helen, all of Winchester. Charles is also survived by seven grandchildren, Timothy Douglas Brown, Lynda Hart Orndorff, Lori Hart Eversole, Melissa Lake Boyle, Stephanie Hart Arney, Anthony (Tony) Hugh Lake and Amanda Lake Braithwaite, thirteen great grandchildren, Jordan, Jacob, Maura, Charles Tucker, Ty, Hope, Nathan, Gracie, Aaron, Alexis, Aiden, Natalie and Arabella and a number of close nephews and nieces.

Preceding Charles in death are his parents; his son Ronald Charles Lake; brothers Lewis, Kenneth, and Douglas and sister, Vivian Lake Cooper.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 9, 2014, 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, 1:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will be at Shenandoah Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Jim Brown, Ty Brown, Jake Orndorff, Tucker Orndorff, Nathan Boyle and Mike Lake.
