George Washington Wellenkotter, age 94, of Princeton, MN, passed away on Sept. 28, 2015, at Sterling Pointe Senior Community in Princeton, MN, after his final battle with Alzheimer's. George was born on Feb. 22, 1921, in Janesville, WI, the youngest child of Louis and Rosetta (Yahnke) Wellenkotter. On May 30, 1953, he married Priscilla Alden Mills in Janesville. George served in the 28th Infantry 8th Division in World War II in the European Theater and received the Purple Heart. He was a co-owner of the A&W Grocery Store in Madison, and then owned The Suburban Super Liquor Store for many years. George loved duck hunting, gardening and cooking on the grill.
