Mrs. Nonnie B. Agan, age 88, of Rome, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at a local hospital.

She was born in Cherokee County, AL, on December 28, 1926, daughter of the late William Thomas Gene Baldwin Miller and the late Lillie Bell Mayo Miller. She had worked at Kessler’s on Broad Street and after retirement she was a homemaker. She loved cooking for her family and making a happy home for them. She was an avid gardener and loved canning and freezing the fruits of her labor. She also loved working in her yard. She and her late husband loved traveling to her children’s homes and vacationing with them. She was a God fearing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend to all.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Crayton Eudon Agan, by 2 sons, Ronnie Stephen Agan and John Robert (Johnny) Agan, by a daughter, Donna Elaine Agan, by 3 brothers, Thomas, Fred, and Jack Miller, and by 3 sisters, Era Agan, Rovine Dunivant, and Shirley Burns.

For over 50 years she had been active in her church, Emmanuel Baptist Church, where she had been a Sunday School Teacher, WMU Director, and sang in the choir and was a soloist. She also sang with her husband and her children in a group known as the “Agan Family”. She was an Emeritus member of the Etowah Chapter # 30, Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Agan, and his wife, Brenda, Elizabethton, TN; 3 daughters, Wanda Rhoades, and her husband, David, San Antonio, TX, Karen Wrenn, and her husband, Michael, Jacksonville Beach, FL, and Janet Pollard, and her husband, Darryl, Rome; a daughter-in-law, Bobbie Agan, Rome; 11 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 3pm at Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Ingram officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Emmanuel Baptist Church on Sunday from 2pm until time for the service. At other hours, the family may be contacted at the residence.

All pallbearers are asked to assemble at Emmanuel Baptist Church on Sunday at 2:30pm and are as follows: Active: Bob Agan, Joey Cowart, Jason Cowart, Tyler Agan, Jesse Pollard, and Hunter Cowart. Honorary: Her great-grandchildren.
