American Character Actor. Stevens, who attended the University of New Hampshire, studied acting for a career in the theater. He first appeared on Broadway in 'Inherit the Wind', before landing a role on the daytime drama 'The Edge of Night' in 1956. In 1960, he landed a role in the film 'Murder, Inc.' and had roles in 'Butterfield 8' (1960), 'Dead to the World' (1961), 'The Sporting Club' (1971), 'The Seduction of Joe Tynan' (1979), 'Endless Love' (1981) and 'School Ties' (1992). Among TV series, daytime dramas and made-for-TV movies he appeared in were 'Naked City', 'The Defenders', 'One Life to Live', 'Ryan's Hope', 'My Body, My Child', 'George Washington', 'Day by Day', 'War and Remembrance' and 'Law & Order'. Stevens, who helped establish the professional theater company at Penn State University, was married to actress Lydia Bruce. He died of natural causes.
