Raymond Maxwell “Max” Snyder, son of George Raymond and Alta May (Hayes) Snyder, was born in Mercer County, Missouri, on June 1, 1935, and passed away on July 28, 2015, at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 80 years.
Max was raised in Mercer County where he was a 1953 graduate of Mercer High School. Prior to finishing high school he worked for Clay Rogers at the Lineville Elevator. In 1954, Max purchased the old elevator on the Missouri side of Lineville from Clay and moved it to South Lineville, Missouri, in 1962 from land purchased from Jim Gorman. As the business grew, he purchased the Gene Drake property in Lineville, Iowa, and moved the grain bins and elevator leg there. He owned and operated the elevator for over 22 years, and also the elevator in Derby, Iowa, for 4 years. In 1975, he sold the Lineville elevator to MFA, and sold the Derby elevator in 1976. He continued farming until his death at age 80.
Max was united in marriage to Nora Anna Lee Clark on January 17, 1960. Anna Lee preceded him in death on October 6, 2012. He was also preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Larry Snyder. He is survived by his two sons, Mike Snyder (and daughter-in-law, Stacy) of Lineville, Iowa, and Jeff Snyder of Mercer, Missouri; two grandchildren, Rayleigh and Rayce Snyder; and by his loving dog and companion for many years, Missy.
Max was a member of the Mercer, Missouri, Assembly of God Church. He dearly enjoyed being with his grandchildren, restoring and collecting classic and antique cars and antique farm tractors. He served his country as a member of the Army Reserve Forces from 1957 until April of 1963.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 3, 2015, at 1:00 P.M., at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Lineville, Iowa, with Pastors Danny Moore and Max Carmichael officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Lineville.
