James Talbert Dell, Sr., age 83, of Berkeley Springs, WV, died on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA.

Born February 12, 1932, in Mapleton Depot, PA, he was the son of the late Clinton Harold and Nora Viola Bailey Dell.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs. He was a graduate of Mt. Union High School in Mt. Union, PA and attended Juniata College. He worked in data processing with Thomas A. Close, CPA, in Berkeley Springs. Jim served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from January 5, 1951, until his honorable discharge at the rank of Airman First Class on October 4, 1954. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Air Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Jim was a member of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post #60 in Berkeley Springs. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and camping.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Esther Green, Beck Hoover, Dorothy Wible and Betty Jane Andrews and four brothers, Harold “Dutch” Dell, Chester Dell, Joseph Dell and Carl “Pete” Dell.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2015, at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, WV.

A memorial service to be conducted at First United Methodist Church will be announced later. Private interment will be in Bowman’s Chapel Cemetery in Mapleton Depot, PA.
