Major League Baseball Player. He played five seasons as a member of the Philadelphia Athletics and St. Louis Browns. Coleman was the first player to make it to the major leagues from what is now Oregon State University. He made his big league debut at the age of 30 on April 15, 1932 and went on to appear in 439 games. He retired with 40 home runs and a .285 lifetime batting average.
