Kitty graduated from White Plains High School and moved to Chatham with her railroad family shortly after. She was employed by B.H. Delson Co. and Chatham Central School District as a teacher’s aide. She spent many years as a homemaker and was also a member of American Legion Post #42 Auxiliary.
She married William H. Silliman in April of 1947; he passed away in March of 2000. They maintained their home in Chatham since 1952.
She is survived by one son, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren.
Kitty loved animals and birds. When she was caring for her neighbor’s pets as well as her own, she would watch the birds at her feeders until it was time to spoil a grandchild/great grandchild or two.
In later years she would try to keep in touch with old friends who would remind her of some good old times.
The family would like to thank the staff at Barnwell Nursing Home for their care.
Calling hours will be Thursday, October 25th from 5 to 7:30 pm at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, Chatham. A religious service will be conducted at 7:30pm.
