Bernice Kathleen Besch-Field, 90, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2015. She was born on August 4, 1924, in Palmyra, the daughter of Anna (Lemmermann) and William Heather. Bernice was the youngest of eight children.

She graduated from Douglas (Nebraska) High School, Class of 1942 and the Lincoln School of Commerce in 1943. She was a secretary at University of Nebraska College of Mechanical Engineering. She was very active in Presbyterian Church affairs serving as elder and deacon in Presbyterian Church; former president of United Presbyterian Women; Homestead Presbytery, Presbyterial Peace Making Strategy Team; United Nations Association, Chapter 100 Lincoln (served as secretary for four years.)

She was a member of the Fourth Presbyterian Church of Lincoln, First Presbyterian Church of Dodge City, Kansas, and Hopewell Presbyterian Church of Otoe County. Bernice was a homemaker and active mother as her children grew up; den mother, etc. Bernice was a member of Amateur Radio Club, loved flowers, traveling, the mountains, family history, did needle work and many crafts. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was charitable to all.

Bernice was preceded in death by her first husband, Wayne L. Besch; sisters Ruth Feather, Ruby Gingles, Mabel Wilhelm; brothers Lawrence Heather, Vern Heather, Paul Heather, Carl Heather; and granddaughter Shannon Besch.

Bernice is survived by: her second husband Bradley C. Field Jr.; sons, Roger Besch & wife Elaine, Steven Besch & wife Barbara, Clark Besch & Jill White, William Besch & wife Amy. Plus step-sons Curt Field & wife Launie, Laurence Field, Gary Field & wife Jennifer; and step-daughter Nancy Field.

Also surviving are: grandchildren: Scott Besch & wife Carolina, Brent Besch & wife Nadia, Shane Besch, Shelly (Besch) & Josh Vandenberg, Amber (Besch) & Caleb Smith, Heather Besch, and Andrea Besch. Plus step-grandchildren: Andy Field, Mathew Field & wife Christy, Christy (Field) & Jon Irvin, Spencer Field, and Delaynie Field. Great-grandchildren: Hailey and Avery Smith; and step-great grandchildren: Addison and Baya Irvin; Gabriel and Lillian Field. Also many nieces and nephews.

Memorial service on Monday, June 1, 2015 at Fourth Presbyterian Church in Lincoln.

Interment in Fairview Cemetery.
