Alice Rose Maurer, the daughter of Jay and Agnes Kaiser Duncan, was born February 6, 1924, at Sutherland, Iowa. She attended schools in O'Brien County and graduated from Sutherland High School in 1942 and then attended Business School in Sioux City.
She was united in marriage to Kenneth Maurer at Sioux City, Iowa, on August 18, 1946. They lived at Spencer for three years, at Peoria, Illinois, for three years and at Sutherland since 1952. Alice was active with her husband in Ken's Feed Store for many years. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Sutherland and active in Church work. She was a member of the Victory Chapter, Order of Eastern Star #480 and the Past Matrons.
She passed away at Primghar, Iowa, on August 29, 1988, at the age of 64. Preceding her in death were her parents.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ken; four sons and their wives, Ron and Nancy of Cherokee, Greg and Deana of Joplin, Mo., Gail and Sherry and Brad and Debbie, all of Sutherland; one daughter and her husband, Cindy and Doug Lundquist of Paul¬lina; seven grandchildren, Stanley, Elaina, Cara and Curtis Maurer and Michelle, Melissa and Misty Lundquist; two sisters, Mrs. Harry (Esther) Jalas of Sutherland and Mrs. Remington (Ethel) Hyde of Peterson; one brother, Robert Dun¬can of Hartley, other relatives and friends.
