Ora Jean Pittman went to be with her Lord Jesus on Sunday, January 25, 2015, at the age of 89 years. Jean was born in Elkins, West Virginia and grew up in Pennsylvania. she pursued life with a passion, and loved interacting with others whether family, friends and neighbors, or a stranger.

As the wife of an Air Force pilot in the Strategic Air Command, Jean dutifully followed her husband on assignments across the United States and Atlantic. When her husband was lost over Canada in a mid-air explosion, Jean never lost faith that he would be found alive. After his miraculous rescue four days later, she wrote of her experience and the importance of faith in Redbook magazine.

Wherever she was, Jean sought to join others in community and church activities. She believed in blessing others and donated her time to help those less fortunate. When San Antonio became her husband's last duty assignment, Jean decided to pursue her own career at Frost National Bank, where she helped build the new business of 'bank cards', later known as VISA. She was an active member of many professional organizations including those focused on promoting the careers of young women in business and banking. She retired as a Vice President of Frost.

In retirement, Jean joined her husband in traveling and sightseeing across the United States, visiting old friends and making new friends. After several years, they returned to Texas and settled in Sun City, Georgetown. After the death of her husband Jean moved back to San Antonio to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband, Thomas Leland and children Larry and Judith. She is survived by daughter Catherine McLeod, son Tom Pittman and wife Susan. Jean had eleven grandchildren who lovingly knew her as "Mimi'.

She never gave up her spark and interest in others and embraced each day with enthusiasm and curiosity. Her lovely glow and smile will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Her last words to her family were "love, love, love".
