Emanael Wolford, deceased, was born in Columbiana County, Ohio, September 12, 1827, and was a son of Henry and Elizabeth (Fox) Wolford, of Pennsylvania. He was married, Nov. 26, 1857, to Fanny, daughter of Thomas J. Sweet. To them were born four children, two of whom are living, viz., Frank W. and Carrie E. ; Ida 0. and Effie D. , deceased. Mr. W. died October 10, 1872. His father, Samuel, served in an Ohio regiment during the late war.
Hiram Sweet and Harry Sweet, were the brothers of Fanny. They also resideed in Defiance County. Both served in the Civil War. Harry served in the One Hundred and Eleventh Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the entire war, and was wounded twice. Hiram Sweet belonged to the One Hundred and Twenty-first Ohio Volunteer Infantry, and saw active service throughout the war.
