Lil Roger was born with rare blood type AB- and when he got sick he needed several transfusions. He was blessed to have so many donors come forward. They were the heroes of his short life.

Oldest son of Roger and Shirley (Peterson) Horton. He was born at Martin SD on Dec. 22 1968 and was joined by two brothers Lyle and Jeremy. He was full of life and enchanted the hearts of everyone who met him. He was diagnosed with leukemia in mid 1971 and passed away on Dec. 5 1971. His grandparents were James and Lilly(Babe) Horton who are also buried here.

His father wrote the following poem for him-
GOD'S LOAN of ROGER K HORTON JR
God didn't give us Roger but sent him on lend
and now we send him back to God our son, our brother, our friend .
The Lord loaned us Lil Rog to behold and to love
and to teach the many joys that await us in Heaven above.
Rog gave his all from the day of his birth
and may he bring happiness in Heaven as he has here on earth.
We say good-bye now Rog, we'll miss you tis true
but we'll meet again when our life here is through.
