OBITUARY OF ELEANOR "ELLA" ANDERSON

Services were held Saturday, April 22 in the Mount Pleasant LDS Third Ward for Eleanor (Ella) Shepard ANDERSON, 89, long-time resident of Mount Pleasant who died April 19, 1978 in Orem of causes incident to age.

Mrs. ANDERSON was born November 29, 1888 to Ephraim Isaac and Sarah Margaret Kay SHEPARD in Mona, Juab County. Married to Archibald Henry ANDERSON in the Manti LDS Temple February 22, 1911. He died, Mount Pleasant, November 30, 1961.

Mrs. ANDERSON was a member of the LDS Church and for most of her life was involved in its activities. She held a variety of positions in the Primary, the YWMIA and in the Relief Society of her wards in Mona, Moroni, and Mount Pleasant. She possessed musical talents and served as organist at various times in these organizations. From 1938 to 1942 she and her husband served as ordinance workers in the Manti Temple.

Mrs. ANDERSON was also a community worker. She was a charter member of the Acme Literary Club in Mount Pleasant which was organized in 1927 and has held continuous membership for the fifty years since that time. For many years she served as a registration agent in her precinct in Mount Pleasant.

Especially during the last twenty years of her life, except for the time since the last illness began, she devoted a great deal of her time to her crocheting. She left an accurate written record of seven hundred and seventy-three beautiful handkerchiefs with crocheted edges either given or sold to friends or relatives. Approximately seventy five pairs of pillow cases were also given this personalized finishing touch by her skillful hands.

Mrs. ANDERSON is survived by four sons: Keith Edward of Butte, Montana; Thomas Ralph of New York City; Ross Shepard of Orem; and Dr. H. Reese of Bountiful, Utah. Two daughters, Sarah Wanda and Elma A. LARSON, died in 1927 and 1939 respectively. Cheryl Larsen LYON, a granddaughter who lived with the Andersons during the early years of her life, resides in Provo. There are five other grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Chloe S. EDWARDS, lives in the Los Angeles, California area.

Bishop Brent Thorne conducted the Services and prayers were by Arnold Y. Stevens and Grant Johansen. Family prayer was by A. J. Anderson.

Louise B. Johansen gave a History and Thomas Edgar Lyon, Jr. a tribute to Grandmother. The other speaker was J. Seymour Jensen.

Music was by Ethel Porter, prelude and postlude; a violin solo by Florine Whiting accompanied by Ethel L. Ericksen; and an organ solo by Judy Anderson.

Dedication of the grave in Mount Pleasant Cemetery was by Max A. Peery.

Burial was under the direction of Jacobs Mortuary.
