He was the son of George Franklin Ridlen and Easter Jemima (Ferris) Ridlen Drake.

He married Lottie Mae Colclazier on June 28, 1917 Hancock County, Indiana (Marriage License Vol. C-13 p. 71).

He served as a private in the U.S. Army during W.W.I

He owned/operated a barber shop on Main Street, Greenfield, Hancock County, Indiana; a member of New Palestine Masonic Lodge #404, F.&A.M.; Hancock County Post #119 of the American Legion.

He and his wife were noted for many years as heroes in the small town of Greenfield, Hancock County, Indiana, where they came to the assistance Sheriff Clarence Watson, who was in a life and death battle with the Brady Gang, during their attempt to escape the Hancock County jail.

He died at the age of 86y, 3m, 3d, cause of death was listed as Respiratory Failure, with the contributory factors of: Carcinoma of Lung, Diabetes Mellitus, and Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease, and was buried on July 25, 1978.

Funeral arrangements were made through Pasco Memorial Mortuary.
