Wedding Bells Will Ring for Lilah Smith, 1947 Hay Queen


Miss Lilah Smith, 1947 Hay Queen, and Clarence Heiser, Lincoln, will be married at the Presbyterian Church here Sunday, November 39. The Rev. Orin C. Graff will perform the ceremony at 2 o'clock.


Miss Smith is a daughter of Mrs. Charles N. Smith of Atkinson. She has been employed at the Morgan Hardware store for the past two years.


Mr. Heiser is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Heiser of Aurora and is employed by Hardy Furniture Company in Lincoln.


The young couple will make their home in Lincoln.

Clarence R. Heiser, 92, of Lincoln, passed away February 18, 2015. Born to Adam (Margaret) Heiser on October 8, 1922 in Harvard, NE. Early years were spent on the farm and attending rural grand school, graduating from Stockham High School.


After High School he spent 2 years in the US Army, serving in the Pacific operations. Once he returned from the service, he met and later married Lilah (Smith) on November 30, 1947. He farmed for 1 year before coming to Lincoln where he worked for Cushman Motors, Hardy Furniture and Grainger Bros-Fleming Foods. He retired from Fleming Foods after 40 years in the grocery business.


He was a member of the Old Cheney Alliance Church where he was an usher for 50 years, he worked at Fleming Foods for many years. Clarence enjoyed fishing and working in the garden.
