Born 1822 in Berkeley County, West Virginia the Daughter of John McCleary (1795-1860) and Jane (Showalter) McCleary (1799-1845). She married Robert T. VanMetre March 27, 1840 in Berkeley County, West Virginia(services performed by Lewis F. Wilson). From the union was born Sheridan, Eliza W, Mary R, Matilda, Darby and Charles L VanMetre.
Passed away April 7, 1897 at 1604 Pine, St Louis, Missouri, aged 76 years . Buried at Wesleyan Cemetery, St Louis, Missouri.
