Martin Kjos, 77. Funeral Service. The funeral was held Monday, December 6, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Sherwood, for Martin Kjos, 77, Sherwood, who died December 2, at Sherwood. Rev. Richard Bahe officiated with burial in the Union Cemeteryy, rural Sherwood. Honorary Pallbearers were: Paul Hones, James Walker, William Kosel, William R. Hansen, Robert H. Owen and Melvin Heramb. Active pallbearers were: Perry Brown, Wilbur Johnson, William Coutts, Cloyd Hurdelbrink, Ben Hurdelbrink and Elmer Steeves. Special musical selections were by the Sherwood Quartet: Mrs. John Stiles, Mr. William Kosel, and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Keith, with Mrs. Gene Johnson as organist. Mr. Kjos was born March 13, 1899 in Mayville. In 1918, he moved to Sherwood where he was employed by K.R. Flem Co. Inc. for several years before operating his own garage until 1964. From 1964 to 1975, he was employed by K.R. Flem as partsman. He married Dorothy Hoefer on October 18, 1931, at Glen Ewen, Sask. He had been a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Sherwood Community Club. Survivors include: wife, Dorothy; sons, Robert, Sherwood, Monte and Terry, both Moorehead, Minn.; daughters, Eleanor Harris, Detroit, Michigan, Mrs. Richard (Marilyn) Bristol, Moorehead, and Mrs. Gary (Star) Tarasen, Fargo; eight grandchildren; and sisters, Mrs. John (Gunhild) King, Fargo, Mrs. Netta Rowley, Grand Forks and Clara Kjos, Washington, D.C.
