Dorothy Eleanor Hoefer, the daughter of Alfred and Florence Hoefer, was born August 22,1915, in Lampman, Saskatchewan, Canada. She grew up and received her education in Canada.

On October 18, 1931, Dorothy was united in marriage to Martin Kjos at Glen Ewen, Sask., Canada. After their marriage, they made their home in Sherwood, ND, where they raised a family of nine children.

Her husband, Martin, died on Dec. 1, 1976. In 1978, Dorothy moved to Moorhead, MN, to live with her daughter, Marilyn Bristol. Dorothy was an active volunteer at the Moorhead Thrift Store for many years.

In 1999, Dorothy became a resident of Elim Pioneer House in Fargo, ND. In November of 2003, she moved over to Elim Care Center in Fargo, where she died on Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at the age of 89.

In addition to her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, Donald, Edward and Mark; three brothers and one sister.
