Mrs. Sarah J. Filby, of Waynesburg, widow of Samuel Filby, deceased, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. William Biddle of Carmichaels, Sunday morning, August 1, aged 59 years,of a complication of diseases. Mrs. Filby had been ill for the past year, but was somewhat improved, and a few weeks ago went to visit her sister at Carmichaels. She was taken seriously ill Saturday evening and her death occurred at 1:30 o'clock Sunday morning. Mrs. Filby was born in Carmichaels and after her marriage removed to Waynesburg where she had resided for thirty-one years. She was a member of the Baptist Church and was highly esteemed. She is survived by on son, Arthur Filby, at home; two sisters, Mrs. William Biddle of Carmichaels and Mrs. Margaret Matthews of Monongahela, Pa.; and a brother, Frank Burwell, of Claysville. The funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. conducted by the Rev. George C. Horter, pastor of the Waynesburg Baptist Church, assisted by the Rev. James Hamilton. Interment in the Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels.
