Scott Foist, 90, a resident at the Hospitality Nursing Center, died Monday evening there. He had been in failing health for six weeks.
Born July 22, 1886, in Jennings County, he was the son of Randolph Foist and Martha Taylor Foist. He was a member of the First Church of God. He had lived in Shelby County until 1960 when he moved to Columbus.
He has been a resident here since 1970.
Mr. Foist was employed with International Harvester at Indianapolis until his retirement in 1954.
He was married in 1927 to Gracie Fallis, who died June 8, 1971.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two stepdaughters, Arcellia (Scottie) Bausback, June 20, 1975; and Virginia Franklin, who passed away in 1970; a stepson, Artie B. Scott.
He was one of 15 children and two half-sisters. All are deceased.
The services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home with he Rev. Robert L. Browning, pastor of the First Church of God, officiating. Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery at Columbus.
Visitation will begin after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
