Murl Womer, age 93, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 1999 in Murray, Utah.
She was born November 29, 1905, in Preston, Idaho the second of eight children of Lorenzo E. and Maud Bosworth Hansen. She spent her growing up years in Preston. After receiving a teaching degree, she taught school in South East Idaho. In 1931 she married Walter E. Womer and moved to Salt Lake City. They then moved with Union Pacific to Omaha, Nebraska where they spent the next 30 years. Following the death of her husband Murl returned to Murray to be close to family. Murl enjoyed a variety of hobbies and cooking was the top of the list. She was an accomplished chef, and many knew her as the "cookie lady."

Survived by one son, Dale Womer, Murray, UT; two grandchildren, Jennifer Riddle, Norway, South Carolina; and Melissa Finklea, Memphis, Tennessee; four great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, one brother, Lamar Hansen, Blackfoot, Idaho; two sisters, Frances Harris, Phoenix, Arizona; and Nedra Potter, Salt Lake City, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Walter, three brothers, and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 26, 1999 at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive where family and friends may call on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. and on Friday from 12:45-1:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
