Mr. William Fred Greene, age 77, of Lenoir and Supply, NC, passed away Friday, December 5, 2014 at New Hanover Medical Center. Born November 15, 1937 in Watauga County, he was a son of the late Arvil and Chessie Watson Greene.

Mr. Greene was of the Baptist faith and was the owner and operator of Greene’s Trading Post for many years. Fred visited a number of nursing and retirement homes in Caldwell and Watauga County throughout the years. He never met a stranger, and always tried to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ wherever he traveled.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years; one daughter; three sons, all of Lenoir; one sister of Tenn.; 13 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. William Fred Greene were conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating was the Rev. T. J. Jackson. Burial followed in the Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery.
