Rebecca Stroup, daughter of the late Qulin and Dolly Thomas Canoy, was born in Wardell on April 18, 1927, and died at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau on Monday, July 24, 2006, at the age of 79.

Mrs. Stroup had lived in the Kinder and Puxico areas most of her life. She was a member of the Apostolic Faith Tabernacle in Sturdivant. She had worked at the Inland Shoe Factory in Advance until her retirement.

On October 6, 1944, she was married to Calvin Stroup in Parma. He preceded her in death on August 31, 2003.

Surviving are three sons, Bill Stroup of Dexter, Ray Stroup of Puxico, and Lee Stroup of LaPlace, La.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Canoy of Zalma; and one sister, Nancy Canoy of Puxico.

She was preceded in death by one son; one brother; and one sister.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico with the Rev. Dale Holman of Arab and Rev. Donnie Fowler of Neeleyville officiating.

Interment will be in the Fagen Cemetery near Puxico.

Watkins & Sons Funeral Home of Puxico is in charge of arrangements.
