Carly Mary Cady was born in Los Angeles CA on November 26, 1943. Carly was the daughter of screenwriter Jerome John Cady and Eugenia Peterson Cady. Like her father, she was a writer. She worked on "The Brady Bunch" and "Love American Style", was a writer for daytime television shows and received an Emmy Award nomination. In addition to her television credits, she was published in numerous newspapers, magazines, and websites. She was a voracious reader with a wide range of knowledge and had recall of everything she ever read, heard, or experienced. Before the advent of "Jeopardy" she was a big winner on several game shows based on intellect and knowledge rather than luck or chance. Carly was a great lover of animals - especially cats - and a supporter of liberal causes. Although she held strong opinions on most subjects, she was not one to denigrate those who disagreed with her. She liked a debate based on verifiable facts and could call up plenty of them to make her own point. Friendship with Carly was always interesting. One might be invited to a murder mystery party or a car rally scavenger hunt or a séance. About eight years ago Carly left her Hollywood and Los Angeles milieu and moved to Vista California with her feline companions, Baldwin, George, and Mabel. Although Carly battled depression throughout her life, she persevered. She was in poor health for the past two years following a stroke but retained her love of books, music, and film, and could hold her own in mental games and conversation to the end. She spent her last months at All for Seniors, in Del Mar. She died at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla. Her last hours were in the company of longtime friends. Carly was unmarried and had no children. Carly will be cremated and borne away by the sea.
