Son of Christian Oberholser, and Fannie Wingert. Wife Rachel Oberholser. He was a retired minister and Bishop.

His family history is given by his great grandson Avery Zook in  "Martin H. Oberholser; Franklin County Bishop", Brethren in Christ  History and Life, Vol. VIII No. 3, Dec. 1985, p 205  Bishop Martin  presided over the  marriage of  many of the Hans Wenger descendants.

As noted in Avery's article on Bishop Oberholser the deeds are  recorded at the Office of Recorder in Deed book, Vol. 37, p. 541 and  Deed Book, Vol. 238, p.44.

In his last years, Martin lived with his daughter in Grantham.  The picture of him sitting in a chair in back yard is taken at Grantham, PA.

Clarifying the1900 census
His daughter Anna Mary Oberholser and husband, Amos Rosenberry, are living with Martin on the farm.
They are married one year and one child born and none living in that census as well. They have one of their five children live.

Martin has a daughter Edna Bennett living with Martin and Rachel.  She may be adopted. OR perhaps the census taker
got some misinformation as reflects on placing Irving as a grand son three years before he was born.

Irving O Musser, 3 Jan 1893 grandson is also living with Martin and Rachel in the 1890 census. Connie finds this interesting as the census predates his birth by three years. The 1890 Census records were burned and in reconstructing some of them they must have understood that Rachel raised her grandson, as his mother Fannie Oberholser Musser died a week after Irving's birth.

Two Servants were Lizzie Rosenberry Oct 1881 who is sister to Amos Rosenberry, and Helman Bert b. Jun 1879  (who is named Jesse Hoover Bert in all documents but who marries Lizzie eventually). The H for Hoover may be really Helman, but so many families did give all their children their mothers maiden name for a middle name until about 1900.
