After an illness lasting only a week, Mrs. Amanda Hutchinson passed away at her home on South Monticello street Saturday noon. Uremic poisoning which brought on severe erysipelas during the last few days, caused death. A heart trouble also hastened the end. Mary Amanda Dukes was born in Harrison township of this county on April 29, 1845, her age at death being 68 years, 8 months and 18 days. This county was her home practically all of her life. When a young woman she was married to John Allen. Six children came to them, two of whom survive her--son Riley of Medaryville and daughter Mrs. Maria Reno of Kewanna. Mr. Allen died about twenty years ago, and eight or ten years later she was married to John Hutchinson who preceded her in death last June. Mrs. Hutchinson is survived by four sisters--Mrs. Anna Megahan, Mrs. Rachel Thomas and Mrs. Cordelia Warfield of this city, and Mrs. Jane Benefield of Missouri. The funeral was held Monday afternoon with services at the Christian church by Rev. J. B. Dunkelberger, followed by interment on the hill at the side of her deceased children.
