Gladys Davis Richardson, 95, of Wapello Health Care Center, formerly of Bonaparte, died at the health care center.

Born in Lee County, she was the daughter of Harry Welch and Bessie Lee Davis. On June 29, 1936, she married Vern W. Richardson in Farmington. He died Dec. 31, 1976.

Mrs. Richardson worked for the Harmony School District as a teacher and principal for 21 years.

She graduated from high school in Farmington in 1929, Iowa Wesleyan College in 1961 and from the University of Iowa in 1969 with a master's degree. She was a 50-year member and a worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Farmington United Methodist Church and the Bonaparte United Church. She was charter member and president of Bonaparte Women's Association and a member and past president of PEO Chapter A.B. of Bonaparte. She was an honorary member of PI Lambda Theta and University of Iowa charter member and past president of Alpha Sigma chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl Dossett of Wapello; one son, Brent Richardson of North English; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, one grandson and three sisters.

The graveside service was held in Bonaparte Cemetery, with the Rev. Richard Eis officiating.
