Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Charlotte Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Alfred Garr officiating.
Mrs. Elder was born in Buncombe County, NC, June 7, 1922, daughter of the late Hubert and Maude Caldwell. She was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Charlotte.
Surviving are sons, Hugh Elder Jr. and wife, Lesa, of Asheville, NC, and Church Elder and wife, Sylvia, of Holliday, TX; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Elder Sr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp Lurcrest, c/o Garr Memorial Church, 7700 Wallace Rd., Charlotte, NC 28212.
