Sir Knight, Lord John Abney, was born in 1476, Derbyshire England, son of William Abney**, .Lord Exparte of Willesley, He was a knight and Lord of Wellesley. It is not know how John became sole Lord of Willesley, but he was the first and sole Lord.

John married Maria d'Ingwardby circ. 1500. They were the parents of 3 boys and 3 girls.

John died on 1 Dec 1550 in Derbyshire, Wellesley. He is buried in chancel(beneath the floor), Wellesley Manor Chapel.

On the floor of the chancel are two alabaster slabs, the figures and inscriptions of which are very worn. The oldest one is that of John Abney and on it is incised the figure of a man in plate armor, with his wife by his side and at their feet three boys and three girls*.

**When William Lord Exparte Willesley De Abney was born in 1425, in Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire, England, United Kingdom, his father, John Lord Willesley de Abney, was 25 and his mother, Maria De Ingwardbly, was 19. He had at least 1 son with Albinis "Birdie" De Ingewardeby. He died in 1471, in his hometown, at the age of 46. Wiki
