Born on January 10, 1915 in Johnsonburg, PA, she was the daughter of Flossie (nee) Long and Lawrence Trambley.

After more than 20 years travelling the globe as an Army wife, Mrs. A and her family settled in Fairfield, PA when her husband was transferred to Ft. Ritchie, MD. She attended Lock Haven, Penn State and Shippensburg University, earning her Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in Education. Her teaching career began at West End Elementary School in Johnsonburg, PA. She taught kindergarten at Cascade Elementary School from 1964-1980. Altogether, she was a teacher for 45 years.

Mrs. A was a longtime volunteer at the Ft. Ritchie Dispensary, Jacobs Church kitchen and the Fairfield Mennonite Church International Gift Festival. She was also an avid patron and donor of the Blue Ridge Summit Library.
