Selma was born on her parents' farm on January 21, 1915. She was the fifth of seven children to Severt and Ragnhild (Nereim) Jacobson. She married Joseph Braun November 6, 1942 in Mankato. This was also "Jack" Braun's 31st birthday. As the couple was leaving the church parsonage on their wedding day, they spotted an apartment for rent at 215 Record Street. This is where they made their home, Selma resided here for the next seventy years.

Selma worked at Dunlop Meats and with the laundry department of the Independent School District 77. She retired in 1984 and has enjoyed filling her time working on Norwegian hardanger embroidery and with her quilting circle at the church. Over the years, Selma brought hundreds of hand sewn angel ornaments to the church bazaar that have made their homes all over the world.

Selma died September 16, 2014 at Laurels Peak after a beautiful life. The family wishes to thank their caring staff for all the wonderful care they gave Selma.

She is survived by her children Ronald (Janice) Dempsey of Garner, IA, Steve (Nancy) Braun of Mankato, Noreen (Loren) Roberts of Mankato; her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph (1964); grandson, Jeff Roberts (1986) and all of her brothers and sisters. Selma Braun was 99 years of age.
