Douglas Elliott Roberts, 56, of Ball Ground, GA passed away suddenly of a heart attack, near his home, on Saturday July 26.

Doug was born December 14, 1957 in Atlanta GA, growing up and living in the Roswell area until the late 80s. Married in 1990 to Robin Roberts, they resided in Cherokee county from 1987 until present, where Doug owned and operated Automotive Excellence. Doug was a huge fan of motorcycle road racing, and was an expert motorbike technician in his own right, owner and builder of WERA National Championship winning bikes in 1984 and1985 (Team Ghetto Racing). He favored classic “Two-Stroke” motorcycles, winning multiple awards for their restoration at shows. He was well known and well loved in the community at large and in racing circles, and touched countless lives with his easy smile, humor and kindness. He will be greatly missed.

Doug is predeceased by parents Dale Elliott Roberts and Phyllis Leflore. He is survived by Robin Roberts, daughter Sarah Roberts, Orinne Jones (mother); sisters Georgann Price, Terri Oen, Julie Roberts, Susan Huber, and Karen Dillingham; brothers Rick Vest, Mark Vest, David Roberts, and John Vest.

A visitation with family and friends will be followed by a memorial service and reception (all in same location) on Thursday, July 31 in the Stancil Room at Georgia Mountains Hospice, 1452 E. Church St., Jasper, GA 30143.
Doors will open at noon, with service to begin at 2:00, followed by a reception to celebrate Doug’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to GA Mts. Hospice.
