Gaye passed away unexpectedly on Friday October 3, 2003 at the age of 62. Born on July 4, 1941 in Port Arthur Ontario, Gaye was the daughter of Michael and Nellie Guzzell.

Gaye attended Port Arthur Collegiate Institute and worked briefly for the Royal Bank before marrying and raising three fine sons.

Gaye was an avid traveler, travelling Europe in her younger days, and in the past couple years enjoyed touring Tunisia in Africa with a dear friend.

Gaye was a member of St. Thomas Anglican Church, a Friend of Old Fort William, and a member of the Blue Bird. Gaye was also well known for her Native arts and crafts. She graciously share this knowledge and expertise with many in the community.

Gaye was a very proud and loving grandmother to seven grandchildren. She is survived by her three loving sons, and their families, Thomas (Leigh) Abthorpe, Sarah and Daniel of Thunder Bay; Geoff (Laurie) Abthorpe, Jacob and Gillian of Petawawa Ontario; James (Debra) Abthorpe, Andrew, Alyssa, and Noah, of Oak Habor, Washington.

She is also survived by her mother, Nellie Guzzell, her brother Terry (Tina) Guzzell, nephew Darin (Rita) Guzzell, nieces Sherry (Kelly) Patterson, Shelley Guzzell and their families.

Gaye was predeceased by her father, Michael Guzzell.

A funeral service in celebration of Gaye's life will be held at 2PM on Tues, Oct 7, 2003 at St. Thomas Anglican Church, in Westfort. Internment will follow at the Guzzell family plot in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, Oct 6 from 7-9PM at Westfort Chapel, 420 W. Gore Street at James.
