Leo Francis Chapla was born only son to Stephanie (Krajewski) Chapla and Paul Chapla on November 30, 1914 in Lafayette Co., Colorado. Upon adulthood, Leo married Marjorie Adell Nerim on November 25, 1937. Leo would work for forty years in the railroad business and enjoyed his job very much. Leo was the sort of person that never had an unkind word to say about anyone and therefore had many friends. He was definitely a peacemaker. His son said he could light up the city of Denver with his smile. Leo was always glad to see everyone and they were glad to see him, especially all the little Nerim girls. Leo liked to go fishing up at Red Feather Lakes with his family and rent a cabin there.

Leo and his wife Maggie had three children, Virginia (b.1940) married to Patrick Warhoe, Patricia wedded to Charles Burkhardt and son Michael Chapla married to Joanna, and daughter Lorainne Reinck (b. 1937) wedded to Armond Otteson. They would have many grandchildren that would attest Leo was the best grandfather anyone could have.

The marriage of Maggie and Leo lasted for an amazing sixty eight years; through W.W. II, The Cold War, Korea, Vietnam and the crazy 1960s, the cultural changes of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. They were together on 9/11 and its aftermath as well. All in all they had a long fruitful life together in Colorado and saw many changes in the world. Leo would pass away from this life and his wife on August 6, 2006 in Cedaredge CO.. The couple would not be separated long as Maggie joined him on the other side exactly one month later. Leo F. Chapla was 91 y.o.a..
