Today is a Celebration of the Life Of Glynn Alvin Pennington

Glynn was born in the small town of Crossett, Arkansas on February 16, 1938. His death came in San Bernardino, CA on July22, 2014 He suffered a fatal heart attack at the age of 76 years old.

Glynn was a man of strong moral character and an ever lasting sense of doing the right thing. He was passionate about his friends, children, grandchildren, and his wife, Franci

He was also passionate about his company, Penco Precision. Glynn took great care not only of his customers, but first and foremost, Penco employees. To Glynn and Franci, the employees of Penco were family. He was a very tough, demanding, but incredibly caring employer. Everyone knew that if you lasted two years of working for Penco, you would probably work there for 30 plus years.

Glynn was a man of extraordinary intelligence; he became a member of the High IQ Society, Mensa, in 1973. He also had one of the greatest senses of humour anyone could ever come across. In fact, he was known to some as a big goofball.

He could do math in his head faster than most people could do it on a calculator.

If you were going somewhere with Glynn that didn’t require an absolute time to arrive at your destination, he would say “we’ll leave about 6”. But, if it was an event that had a starting time he would say “wheels rolling at 6”. Which meant if you weren’t in the car at 6, he might just leave you behind (or you could face the dark looks for being late…not sure which was worse!)

When he got caught at something, such eating too many cookies before dinner (yes, he still did that), he would get the best fake innocent look on his face and deny, deny, deny. And then laugh his big, beautiful laugh.

For years, Glynn had coal black hair and beard, and our grandkids called him “Grandpa Blackbeard”. Thru the years, as his black hair and beard turned to silver, he became “Grandpa Glynn”.

He loved History and the English language, which led him to the biography of Noah Webster, the Father of American English. Glynn began collecting antique Webster dictionaries; his earliest one is from 1830.

Glynn brought flowers to Franci frequently with the explanation that “The flowers just showed up in my car, so I thought I should give them to you”. He was a very romantic, loving, man.

When our youngest grandson, Luke (3yrs old) was told that Grandpa Glynn had died, Luke’s mother used the phrase “we lost Grandpa Glynn”. Luke replied “Why did we lose him? Find him again?” Luke, we are all wondering why we had to lose him….there are simply no answers when such a fine human being is taken from the world.

It was an honour and privilege to be his wife, best friend, lover, business partner, and helpmate.

Rest in Peace

Your Wife: Franci Pennington
This was written by Franci for his Celebration of Life Gathering.

I Paula L Miller - while I was doing research, came across a person I wanted to request a transfer so I could be their Maintaining agent, when I discovered that Glynn had passed away; when reading his bio on his FAG Page. I requested from his wife Franci to do his FAG memorial for her, and she granted me the honor and privilege to do so for a True Grit genealogist that found graves and wrote about as much information as possible, and respond to those that needed help. Thank you Glynn for being there for all of us FAG members. We will miss you dearly...
