Huppert, Sr. and written in the "Census Record Of Confederate Soldiers Residing in Dale County, Alabama in 1907": "William Sampson Jordan, born 3 October 1845 in Houston County, Georgia, entered the Service at Louisville as a Private, 62nd Alabama Regiment. Paroled in Meridian, Mississippi in 1865".

Alabama Deaths, 1908-1959 database shows: W. S. Jordon (William Sampson Jordan) died March 1931 in Lee County, Alabama, Vol 13, Roll 3, Page/Cert #6448. The death certificate shows his DOB as 12 October 1846. J. B. Bevis was in charge of the funeral arrangements. J. R. Jordon was the informant.

William is buried at the Riverdale Cemetery in Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia in Section 1, Plot 42. The couple are buried beside the bench inside the plot. Riverdale Cemetery card file shows he is buried in the same plot with his son, John Robert Jordan.
