Dick Hayford, age 80, of Wenatchee, WA, passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, June 9, 2014, at Colonial Vista Care Center. He was born on July 4, 1933, in Seattle, WA to parents, Walter E. Hayford and Mollie Hopp. He entered the Army during the Korean War and after his military service, he moved to Chelan, WA and met his wife, Mary of Cashmere, WA. They then moved to the Wenatchee area in 1966, where he was employed at various restaurants. In 1967, he and his wife purchased Pete's Cafe; and renamed it Hayford's Cafe;. Fifteen years later, they sold the cafe; and semi-retired, until he accepted the administrator position at Colonial Vista until retirement in 1995.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Marilyn (Robert) Spiess and Bonnie (Phil) Thorne; granddaughters, Tana (Thorne) Hills and Shawna (Spiess) Launer; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and a grandson, Terry Thorne.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 16, 2014, at Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee, with Pastor Keith Kirkpatrick officiating. Memorials may be made to a Humane Society of your choice. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee, WA .
