Santa Fe, Feb. 22 - On the 17th inst., J.L. Sparkman Esq., of this place died of pneumonia, at the advanced age of 71 years. For a number of years he had been a Magistrate in this district, and was holding office at the time of his death. After the funeral services, which conducted by Revs. Dale, Whitaker, Patton and Owings, his remains were conveyed to the Woody graveyard, where they were buried with Masonic honors. To his bereaved wife and daughters, Miss Lela and Mrs. R.L. Ashton, we extend our heartfelt sympathy. -- Columbia Herald, Feb. 26, 1897.
