R. A. Wilkerson was born in Virginia May 16th, 1831. Emigrated to Missouri in 1840. Was united in marriage to Laura A. Conn [sic: Coon] Dec. 8th, 1850. To this union 12 children were born, seven boy and five girls, of this number six are living. He enlisted in the 23rd Missouri Volunteers and served nearly 2 years, then was discharged for disability. Came to Oregon in 1901 and has resided in this county ever since. Died Nov. 26th, 1916, aged 85 years, 6 months and 10 days. The funeral was held in Zion cemetery Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock where a short, but impressive service was held by Rev. C. A. Miller, assisted by Missionary Anna Nakins. Although the elements were unfavorable, a goodly number of relatives and friends were present.
