Mary Alice Woodard passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at the age of 83.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Norman.
She is survived by her children, Kristen, Barbara, Woody, Dale, and Patti; and ten grandchildren.
Mary was born on December 19, 1929 in Taft, CA.

While she was young her family moved to Eugene, OR, where she graduated from University High School and, after being introduced to Norm by a friend, married him and started a family. Norm was soon transferred to the East Coast so they packed up Kris and Barb (and Martini, the dog) and settled in Philadelphia, PA. They enjoyed four years there and after Woody arrived they happily moved back to the Pacific Northwest and started their own business, Book Service Unlimited, in Everett.

After Dale and Patti were born, Mary went to work at Book Service and helped Norm build a successful business for the next 30 years. During this time she enjoyed all of her friends in Glenhaven, hosting the famous yearly Christmas Eve party. She spent many Thursday nights with her bridge club and volunteered with Operation School Bell through the Assistance League. She also spent much of her time getting her five children to their various activities, which could range from Boy Scouts, sports, band, or school field trips. There was also the occasional dog or cat that needed attention.

After retiring she took up golf and enjoyed growing orchids. She and Norm divided their time between their house on Whidbey Island and their condo in Palm Desert, CA. But her favorite thing was relaxing with a cocktail on the deck at the beautiful house on the beach at Useless Bay with Norm and the rest of the family.

There will be a family graveside service on Friday, August 23, 2013. Friends of Mary are welcome to join the family at an open house in her honor on the 23rd at 3306 Shore Ave in Everett from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Reading is Fundamental.
