Raymond Joseph Brashaw Sr., age 86 years, died Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at McLaren Bay Region. He was born to the late Gilbert and Mary (Trafelski) Brashaw on September 8, 1927 in Bay City. Raymond served honorably in the U. S. Army as an In-service Training School Occupational Counselor and also received the Victory Medal. He was employed with The Michigan Department of Transportation for 29 years, before his retirement in 1987. Since 1998, Raymond has been the owner of The Second Hand Shoppe in Bay City. He was a member of St. Joseph Church and in 2010 purchased the St. Joseph Athletic Field. In his earlier years, he coached girls' softball, boys little league baseball, and was an avid bowler. Raymond loved spending the winter months at his home in Lakeland, Florida, where he enjoyed visiting Disney World with his family.

Survivors include his four children: Raymond J. Brashaw Jr., Stephen Brashaw, Pamela Brashaw, and Cheri (Robert) Shay; three grandchildren: Emily, Misty, and Steve; one great-grandchild, Aiden; Raymond's companion of 25 years, Joan Whitfield; one brother and one sister: Edward (Dolores) Brashaw and Helen (Walter) Kaczynski.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Michael Dott; and two brothers: Leo (Virginia) Brashaw and Frank Brashaw.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the W. A. Trahan Funeral Chapel. Sister Gail Addis, IHM will preside with private entombment following in St. Patrick Mausoleum. Visiting hours are Saturday 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the W. A. Trahan Funeral Chapel.
