Lawrence "Larry" Richards
Larry Richards, 81, loving father and grandfather, died February 4, 2008.
He was born May 10, 1926 in Akron, Ohio and had been a resident of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio for close to 50 years.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Akron. He was employed by the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for 34 years and then continued his career running his own business setting up accounting systems and preparing tax returns for small businesses and individuals. After his wife, Gloria, passed away, and not being the type to sit around, he began working for the Stow Wal-Mart from 2000 to November 2007 to keep busy and to be with people.
He was a great husband, father, and grandfather; his family always came first. He was a wonderful outgoing man with many, many, friends and countless acquaintances due to his kind and friendly demeanor. He will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Kathleen Richards; his loving wife, Gloria of 51 years; his grandson, Matthew Richards; his son-in-law, Leo Jacob; and his brother, Fred Richards. He is survived by his son, John (Kathie) Richards; his daughter, Marilyn Jacob; and daughter, Patti (Jim) Tschantz; grandchildren, Emily Richards, Jackie Tschantz, and Eric Tschantz; brothers, Don and Wright Richards; and sister, Kathleen Rogers.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Pilgrim United Church of Christ, with Rev. Kirk Bruce officiating. Friends may call at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Inurnment at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 130 Broad Blvd., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.
