Grainger County News, 25 Feb 1988:

"Horace 'Shorty' Dalton, 79, of Rt. 1, Rutledge, died Monday, Feb. 22, at 1 a.m. in UT Hospital.

A member of Southside Baptist Church, he was a retired employee of U.S. Steel with 23 years of service.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Imogene Turley, he is survived by his wife, Eula Dalton; daughter and son-in-law, Louise and U. L. Reagan, and brother, Millard Dalton, all of Rutledge. Also, six sisters, Alma Biddle, Wilma Finley, Grace Nance and Maude Clark, all of Rutledge and Helen Noe and Iva Owens of Knoxville; three grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral was set for Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Southside Baptist with Rev. Martin Roach, Rev. Hollis Dunsmore and Rev. Clyde Lakins officiating.

Burial in Grainger Memorial Gardens.
