He was born Dec. 08, 1935, in London, Ark. He graduated from Lamar High School in 1953, and spent four years in the U. S. Navy. Prior to retiring in 1997, he worked 20 years as assistant chief engineer for Kal-Kun Foods in Vernon, CA.
He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 501, Lyons Club, American Legion and American Contract Bridge League. He enjoyed traveling, boating, camping, fishing and all forms of gambling especially poker games with friends, and poker, blackjack and bridge tournaments.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jessie Killough Hawkins Rye of Henderson, NV; four sons, Frank Hawkins of Henderson, NV, Keith Rye of Chino, CA, Kevin Rye of Wrightwood, CA, and Kirk Rye of Adelanto, CA; one granddaughter, Stacy Rye of Chino, CA; four grandsons, Eric Rye of Newport Beach, CA, Steve Rye of Chino, CA; Darrin and Auston Rye of St. Helens, OR; a brother and sister-in-law, Elbert and Bonnie Rye of London, Ark.; nieces, Doris, Delores, Denise, Pam, Paula and Cindy Rye; nephews, James and Ronald Rye; and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, C. W. (Charlie) and Pauline Rye; a brother and sister-in-law, Roland and Geraldine Rye; a sister and brother-in-law, Velma and G. V. John; an infant baby brother; a niece, Paulette Rye of Arkansas; nephews, Charles Rye, infant David Wayne Rye and their mother, Pauline Rye.
Funeral proceedings were under the direction of Palm Mortuaries, 800 S. Boulder Hwy., Henderson, NV, and Hardwicke Funeral Home, 509 W. Main St., Clarksville, Ark.
Visitation was Monday, April 25, 6-8 p.m. at Hardwicke Chapel. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, with Rev. James Chronister officiating.
Interment and releasing of butterflies will be at Madden Cemetery. Immediately following the services, all friends and family are invited to attend a party to celebrate Bobby's life. Food and drinks will be served. Location to be announced later. Family suggests casual attire.
