Norman was born June 21, 1918, in New Ulm, the son of George G. and Wilhelminia (Manderfeld) Braun. He served in the United States Army for three years during WWII. In Sleepy Eye, Norman operated a sawmill for a number of years and later was co-owner of Braun Sanitation and also did saw sharpening for many years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a life member of the VFW. Norman enjoyed camping, fishing and going out West hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Howard and brothers-in-law, Emmet Olson, Hubert Kortz and Linus Helget.
